"I had been testing the Synapse Camo line from Katran for around two weeks, and I was very impressed with it's performance. It's low diameter allows you to cast long distances with ease, and even with repeated casting and retrieving there is very little line-twist. For the first two weeks of the testing period, I used the line for standard carp fishing. The low-visibility properties of the line make it ideal for margin fishing - this is great for me because a large percentage of the carp fishing that I do in the UK consists of fishing in the margins. I was able to catch plenty of carp using the Synapse Camo - some from swims with tricky snags in. The line is very robust and allows you to apply extra pressure when you need to without the worry of snapping up.
I then decided to give the line its ultimate test - doing battle with a catfish! One of the lakes that I am a member of has some huge catfish in it, but only a handful. My previous two sessions on there had been unsuccessful, as I didn't manage to catch any catfish. In those sessions I had only fished for them at night, so on this occasion I chose to put out my cat rods during the day as well. My reels were loaded with 15lbs Synapse Camo line, and my chosen tactic was to free-line a huge chunk of luncheon meat underneath a marginal tree. Around 3.30pm in the afternoon, my alarm burst into life, and within seconds I was doing battle with what felt like a very big fish! Once the fish realised it was hooked, it started stripping line at an alarming rate, and heading over for the snags on the far side of the lake. I knew that if I allowed the fish to keep going it would reach the snags, and I would almost certainly lose it. So I held my breath, put my hand over the spool of the reel, and slowly started applying pressure to guide the fish back towards me. The Synapse Camo held firm, and I was able to guide the fish away from danger, and into the open water in front of me. Another 20 minutes of hectic battling ensued, until I caught a glimpse of the huge creature in the upper layers of the water - this was a beast! After a short struggle to fit it in the net, it was mine! The fish weighed in at 68lbs, which smashed my previous UK PB of 57lbs.
My decision to test the Synapse Camo line on a catfish really paid off, as I now have a new personal best! I think it's safe to say I can put my full faith in this line, and I'll definitely continue to use it in the future."
