Написал производителю плетенки Shimano American Corp:

Message: Twice bought from different sellers in the U.S. P.Pro 50lb.
Both times the tensile strength does not meet the stated
    But P.Pro 30lb gorgeous!

    As it is explained to?

Thank you for your keen interest in PowerPro lines. The results you report are typical for anglers testing strength using weight scales.

We test our lines in accordance with industry standards using the same type of testing equipment used by the IGFA who tests using a knotless specimen. You will probably not be able to duplicate this test at home. Consumers doing their own testing are typically generating results that are 50% to 60% of the actual or rated strength reported on the package.

Our testing machine consists of two circular jaws around which the line is wrapped to eliminate the "Jaw effect" - tearing of the material by a clamp style jaw. (See attachment)

Typically when lines are tested at home, knots are tied, and loads are applied with a jerk rather than the steady pull of a tensile testing machine. If you want to try to duplicate our test, please make sure to apply slow steady pressure. If you jerk during a break, you are applying a shock load which superlines with their super low elongation don't withstand well. Monofilament due to it's high elongation and larger diameter will typically fare better in a home test than the superlines.
Note - all lines are weaker in shear (off axis loading) than in pure tension. When you tie a knot, you are introducing off axis load into the termination system; this is why there is no such thing as a 100% knot. Furthermore, there is no standard for sizing in the US, and manufacturers are free to name their lines as they wish except for IGFA rated lines which may break up to but not exceeding the line class rating. We have seen lines labeled as "50 lb test" which break in excess of 100 lbs (and are much thicker than 50 lb PowerPro which breaks at 65 lbs. This gap in line sizing may account for your monofilament breaks above the rated strength.

Lastly, the proof is in the pudding - I rarely hear of a knot failing in actual fishing situations. You are not able to create as much pressure on the line with a rod as you think! The sensitivity and hook setting performance of PowerPro will give you many an enjoyable fight with the species of your choice! (and our smooth super-long casts won't disappoint either.)

    Knot tips:

Try passing the line through the eye twice before tying your knot - this will improve your knot strength.

    Thank you.
